More than a moral teacher
Jesus taught love of God and neighbour, forgiveness, justice, humility and care for those society overlooks. But He also spoke and acted with an authority that went beyond ordinary religious teaching. He forgave sins, called people to follow Him and described Himself as the way to the Father.
Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God—God entering human history. In Him, God's character becomes visible: holy yet compassionate, truthful yet welcoming to those who know they need mercy.

The cross and resurrection
Jesus was executed by crucifixion. Christians believe His death was not simply a tragic defeat: He willingly carried the consequence of human sin so that guilty people could be forgiven and reconciled to God.
The first Christians proclaimed that Jesus rose bodily from death. The resurrection is essential because it means His claims were vindicated and that death will not have the final word for those who belong to Him.
A question that becomes personal
It is possible to admire Jesus without trusting Him. The Gospels invite a deeper response: to consider His identity, receive His forgiveness and learn to follow Him. A good place to investigate is the Gospel of John, reading Jesus' words in their full setting.
